Others treatments

It is impressive to note that Cuban research offers successful and original treatment for some diseases; treatment often exclusive to the Cuban medical services.

Laboratories operate freely, without influence from ‘’for-profit’’ pharmaceutical companies. They are not dependant on commercial financial support. When the researchers discover useful medicines or effective treatments, they are put into service, without considering the inevitable financial, capitalistic, impacts.

It is in this context that Cuban doctors offer treatments that are exclusive in this world.
Here are some examples:

Vitiligo Treatments
The treatment involves the application of a lotion made by the extraction by alcohol (tincture) from human placenta. This lotion helps to increase the reproduction of melanocytes which accelerates the production of melanin in these cells. This medication, unique in the world, is extracted from human placenta and is prescribed by a medical specialist after examining the patient.

Treatment for Psoriasis
The discovery of a special gel helps to combat episodes of Psoriasis by regulating the rate of reproduction of epidermal cells. This treatment is a water-soluble gel which is applied to the skin. Its acts in the epidermis and is absorbed through the skin at the locations where it is applied.

Treatment for Loss of Hair
This condition usually begins from cellular damage caused by a reduction of blood supply to certain areas of the scalp. The damaged follicular cells give off a substance which affects the immune system which in turn produces specific antibodies against the follicles. This can actually destroy cells within the follicle and thus prevent the formation of hair.

The shampoos and lotions offered (on prescription), stimulate the growth and regeneration of the hair-producing cells. They increase the blood-supply to the scalp and regulate the secretion of antibodies.

Treatment for Retinitis Pigmentosa
Retinitis Pigmentosa is a genetic disease that causes a slow deterioration of the vision which ultimately leads to blindness. This disease causes a progressive deterioration of the photosensitive cells of the retina. First symptoms of the disease normally occur around early adulthood but can afflict anyone at any age.

This disease is far more prevalent in southern countries but afflicts many Canadians as well. Currently thousands of Canadians suffer from this degenerative disease. Unfortunately the medical community in North America believes that there is little or nothing that can be done to treat Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Neverteheless, this treatment has proven its effectiveness throughout the world. Thousands of people from all over the world, Italians, Germans, Russians, Argentineans, Venezuelans, (35 countries at last count,) have benefited from these treatment methods that are currently being practiced almost exclusively in Cuba. These clinics in Cuba may in fact be the only hope for people suffering from this disease to arrest the progression of the disease and to avoid becoming blind.

One of the most recent advances in Cuban medical science, in the field of genetic engineering, has produced a vaccine against lung cancer. Even in advanced stages of the disease, this treatment has proven that it can offer an improved quality of life. Millions of people throughout the world suffer from lung cancer, but in Cuba few people die of this disease.

Note: the term “vaccine” used by the Cuban specialists does not mean “prevention”. The term is used to refer to a series of injections administered over a period of a year or more. The patient must remain in a specialised clinic for several days and must plan to travel to Cuba 3 or 4 times.

Since this discovery was announced, the demand for this treatment from the entire world has been enormous. But the production capacity at the present time is limited. The infrastructure needed to answer the demand has yet to be put in place. Laboratories for the production and clinics for the administration of this treatment are being developed at this time.

Here is an article that offers some information on recent advances in Cuba. This article was published on the web-site of: ‘’Actualites News Environnement’’ and it is signed by : Pierre MELQUIO. The information in this article does not come from Health Services International.

Other unique treatments :
There is also a new treatment available that reduces the effects of diabetes and can prevent and heal the most serious effects of this disease. Also, the Cuban program for drug and alcohol dependence is very effective, having one of the highest success rates of any comparable program available elsewhere in the world.
